Default Thread Naming in Real Estate and Development

What does everyone think of adopting the SSP format of posting new projects (IE a subject line with just the project's name, height, floors, and status) it will help consolidate talk for each project into a single thread and would clean up the forum and make it easier to navigate, I think.

Would be nice. All too often we get generic "What do you guys think?!???!" titles that aren't indicative of the topic, and we get duplicates. I guess that makes your "Just an idea..." subject for this thread guilty of that on all accounts as well

haha, an idea to make threads with detailed and descriptive subject lines from one with one of the most vague thread topics ever..

    but it sounds good.

coupled with the fact that I probably should have put this in the site suggestions forum... ah well!

You've maxed your Fail-quotient for the week. I've already put an extension cord in the freezer to whip you with should you do it again

I agree this is a good idea; however, this thread belongs in the Site Suggestions/Discussion section.

^ I think it would be a good idea. I also wouldn't be opposed to providing status labels for those topics as well. So something like:

    [Proposed] Subject Line
    [Built] Subject Line
    [In Progress] Subject Line

Suggestions are welcome for what the labels would actually be.

yeah, I think something like that would work great. I think we could almost incorporate everything in just the title (PROJECT NAME | HEIGHT | # FLOORS | STATUS) though the status label would probably be a bit cleaner looking. maybe the subject line could just be something like "Downtown office tower" or just the location for each.

Or it can just be a status label to denote that this is talking about a specific building. I'll leave it up to the people who visit/mod that particular forum the most to give tell me what they want.

While there are still details that need to be sorted out (what to do about previous threads, enforcement of the policy going forward etc.), I'm pretty sure you can just start doing this with your own threads and let everyone know that this is probably a good idea.

I'm going to scrap the labels for now.

I guess merging all the topics that are talking about the same project might be a bit of work, then just changing the thread titles... For future enforcement, couldn't the thread title just be changed whenever a new project comes up and the format isn't followed? and if a thread is started thats discussing a project that already has a thread, it would just be merged?

Right, but one of the helpful mods has to take the time to do all of this. Someone has to make this one of their responsibilities. Nobody has came forward yet to claim this responsibility.... unless you are willing to?

Who do you talk to about fixing titles that are wrong? (ie GO Centre, which is not under construction even though it says so)

just mention it in this thread (or the thread itself), and I bet one of the great wonderful volunteer moderators at c2e will fix it. What is the correct status of the GO center?

I'd say Proposed as it's only in early design stages and may not go forward if the price isn't right.

Can someone review the thread names again and update those who have not been following the thread naming format?

Hi there Moderators, just noticed that there are a few threads that should either be closed or changed to completed.

Driving up Groat and river road this week. noticed quite a few planter hangars being installed on light post on river road and up Victoria park hill. also replacing the grass along the curbs on river road. is this beautification happening because of the TV coverage for the Tour and the ITU coming up.

Its also nice to see Groat getting repaved.
