Also. great astrophotography this weekend - new moon, no clouds, under 10C at night (= no pesky flying insects).

Not quite Edmonton. But close enough. Urban Sprawl will get us to Elk Island one day.

I'm ALWAYS camping out there. If you see a white single cab truck at night there's likely a photographer sleeping in there either listening to coast to coast am or watching star trek. lol

Took the bottles in last weekend so I guess I'll just have to capture lightning in a shutter.

Do you camp around Astotin Lake? That shot was taken at Tawayiki Lake (swamp).

And also, I was listening to coast to coast on the drive back. Hilarious program.

    Default Air Traffic Control Tower

A few weeks ago there was a food truck event near the old airport. For the price of a donation to the food bank we could go up there. It is much smaller than I imagined. Even the rooms that would be used for equipment were just whatever was left in the circular building with the stairs up the middle and an elevator to one side. I'm glad that they plan to keep it. Some poor fellow had to keep chasing after people like me who, upon discovering the door was not locked, went to the outside walkway to capture some images.

^ Huh the emperor sculpture wasn't there when I went. And I visited quite late in the event...

Here's one of the better vantages of the city imo....makes the city look larger than it really is. But the distance combined with the summer heat, makes it hard to take a sharp photo.

The world’s biggest action sports festival came to Canada. In September 16 to 18, 2016, FISE World Edmonton took over Hawrelak Park to provide us with 3 days of BMX, MTB, Skateboard, and general festival madness. FISE is short for Festival International des Sports Extrêmes. I'm fairly certain this is the first time they've been to Canada.

    # 985.

Cool shot, Voice. The only thing I wish wasn't there is the garbage-bin with the mass-produced City Of Edmonton sign. Kinda doesn't mesh with the otherwise gritty ambience.

Of course, that isn't your fault. Thanks for the photos.

  87. #987

I see your point but in my opinion garbage bins and back alley's belong together (I could do something about the white sign to make it less noticeable). Now that bright red gate on the back of the parking lot is something else altogether. It looks totally out of place. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these though.

Yeah, no problem. I wasn't really criticizing your photography, since you're not responsible for what is in the space.

And I hadn't actually noticed the red gate! Now that you mention it, though, yeah, it is pretty sore-thumbish. But like I say, that's what's there, so that's what gets in the picture. But ya kinda wonder what someone was thinking, putting it in that location to begin with.
