Okay, I'm gonna break the rule here, because I did in fact start the thread on the 2012 Alberta election. But, given the subject matter, it almost certainly would've been started by someone eventually, had I not been around to do the honours.

It was a rather unique and fairly interesting election, and the thread has by far the largest number of posts in the recent history of the Politics forum. So, I'd say it's as worthy as anything else for a place in the canon.

Here are a few old threads which I don't believe should be far from mind:

    http://www.connect2edmonton.ca/forum...t=Head+Offices

It seems to me whenever Edmonton gets behind in the game, rather than digging deep, refocusing, and trying even harder, we don't even bother. We take the ball, go home and sulk.

Let's get it together already, Edmonton.

I’m afraid this thread doesn’t work very well. The best threads are no longer very good. It’s interesting, ironic and foreshadowing in how much online material subsequently vanishes or doesn’t link anymore. Very few of the actual images of old buildings remain in the lost architecture threads.

    Eg
    http://www.connect2edmonton.ca/showt...Lost-buildings

I’ve also posted short quotes in c2e and then a year or two or three later, clicked on the link to the source article to read more and the source no longer exists online. (Searches of the quotes themselves find only the C2e excerpt.)

Eg. on the High Level Bridge:

“You know, rather than pouring $17 million into an old bridge like that, we’d probably seriously consider building a new one,” said John Schnablegger, according to an Edmonton Journal report."

I would say that the bar for a "unique and fairly interesting election" in Alberta has been raised somewhat since I wrote that.
