Thread: I'm takin' the train

    Default I'm takin' the train

How about a thread listing events accessible by LRT? For instance,
    - Golden Bears basketball, Nov. 23/ 24, Saville Center
    - Provincial high school football championships, Nov. 23/24 Foote field
    - Oil Kings at Rexall this weekend

You're safe. Google maps shows me you've got 4.7km of terrain to hide on between the park and the nearest station

How about an ambulance train? Sure the logistics of getting other trains off the tracks might be an issue but just think how fast you could get to the University hospital form the northe side? Or better yet what about when the north LRT leg is complete doing inter-hospital transfers??

If Alberta Health Services had their way they would have someone push you in your hospital bed with your I.V. pole, cathater, iron lung and all onto a regular train. Paying for a ambulance train would be too much on their budget. They have to keep enough by so the heirachy has enough money to pay for their groceries, booze, poliitcal parties and other such things that are normally paid with a pay cheque.

Walmart at Clairview? That's quite an event for some people.

Took the train to Winspear to see Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. Came back on the train loaded with Chili fans from Rexall. Good times!

Thanks for the thread and I'm enjoying hearing about some of the upcoming events that are accessed easily enough. Some of which I wouldn't know about. I've always felt there should be much more of an events and things to do component to this board.

    So thanks again.

Looks like Dinos made off with the first game in Calgary scoring 2 3rd period goals to win 2-0 making this an even bigger contest.

    Might head out to it.

    500 fans in Calgary. lol.

Sat. Jan. 18 -- Heart of the City Festival fundraiser at Parkdale Cromdale community hall. Don't recognize most of the bands but I mention this because Def-in-it are performing. Anyone who is looking for entertainment this summer needs to check out this band. They are great.

probably because the coffee hasn't kicked in yet this morn but I'm having trouble understanding this post. It says Jan 18, then says check out event in the summer? When is the event?

Intended for those who book entertainment. Doesn't have to be in the summer I suppose but the band has a distinct summertime, festival type vibe.

Neko Case at the Winspear May 19. Gonna be awesome. Katy Perry isn't worthy of licking her boot.
I greatly appreciate Case's policies regarding recording and photo's during the concert. Would it kill you to stop playing with that thing?

    Cool thread.

Had a really easy time getting from south Edmonton to the Jubilee to see the Nutcracker last month. Especially since you can walk straight from the Health Sciences Station through the new ECHA building.

Definitely beats having to navigate traffic along 114th street and then trying to get into the parkade.

I'm not a fan of Taste of Edmonton but this year the nightly line-up of bands is excellent. Harpoonist and The Axe Murderer, Said the Whale, Two Bears North... and Maracujah for a little nostalgia.
    Saturday night looks really strong.

Finn MacCool's in City Center has been regularly hosting live music (comedy too, I believe). This Saturday Jesse and The Dandelions are playing. Shows are free and start at a decent hour (8pmish). I saw-them-good a couple times this summer.

    Support live music downtown.
