Default Would you like to see Mayor Mandel run for a 4th term in office?

    Simple yes/no question.

This thread in no way constitutes as Connect2Edmonton Inc.'s endorsement or lobby of the current Mayor's decision - either to run or to retire. This thread arises from the many comments in several threads from several posters expressing their opinion - either way - on Mayor Mandel's decision.

This is a simple poll for you to simply say yes or no.

On this thread, comments are allowed, but only to registered members.

While I think Mandel has been a great mayor I also think leadership changes are good. It's time for change.

I think it's more of a personal decision for Mandel as opposed to him having the support.

I think it is time for a change. I've supported mayor Mandel and I think he's done a good job for the most part. I think he's spent all his political capital on a few pet projects, and now it is time for someone who has more vision for the city as a whole to take the reigns.

Who that person will be is unclear. There are no bright lights on the horizon that I can see, yet.

Agree. I would like to see someone who's progressive enough to deal with the sprawl issue. His achievements notwithstanding, Mandel thinks we need to build suburban hell neighbourhoods to compete with Sherwood Park and St. Albert. Otherwise we'd lose that unsustainable development to other cities. Heaven forbid.

I think Mandel's bid for re-election will depend on a few things:

    (1) If the arena deal is completed and CRL is approved.

    (2) If the SE LRT is far enough ahead that it can go ahead.

    (3) The situation on the provincial charter for cities.

I think, of all candidates, that Mandel is still best able to navigate political landmines and build consensus. If he does step down, I'd like to see a mayor who can deal with the city's growth pressures.

Absolutely not. If he runs, then Sohi won't challenge him, and Ward 12 will be stuck with him for another three years.

In the sitting councillor thread, there is an interesting development going on between the Registered and Guest demographic.

The Registered vote is rather fractured with no clear frontrunner. It would swing wildly with a few supporters for 3 candidates and interestingly enough, the none of the above option.

Here, the results between Guest and Registered are no different. Clear and away, the percentages you see in this poll are reflective of either demographic.

Wow, this poll is fun! I've just voted for both outcomes. Judging by the numbers I'm sure Mandel cheerleaders"guest posters" have been just as generous.

I can net out repeat IP's, especially within a quick timeframe.

Regardless, it is an unscientific and uncontrolled poll, more for what you say (fun).

    Poll is closed.

Both the combined count for votes, and the registered member only votes are close in number. No need to pull both out.

This is it...big announcement in 12 hours. Is anyone here going to be at the lunch?

Some people were clamouring for a businessman-type to enter the ring. Penner sounds, shall we say, interesting...
