Thread: Best Patios in Edmonton?

  1. #1

    Default Best Patios in Edmonton?

Thought this would be a timely thread -

Where are some of the best patio's to enjoy a meal or a beer out in the sun in Edmonton?

Where is the best view of the river valley?

    Best around Whyte Ave?

    Downtown?

What makes these places stick out?

GREAT thread and yes very timely.

Best view of the river valley: Marriott's Thorton Court & The Fairmont Hotel MacDonald

The view, the views and the view.

    Good food with service.

One of my favorite patios for the river valley view is the Hotel Mac. Everyone needs to go there at least once for a drink on their garden patio.

The best patios on Whyte are for people-watching on the street, not the ones shunted out back. My picks are Hudson's, Elephant & Castle, Julio's and the top of Black Dog.

Best downtown people-watching patios are Joey Tomatoes, Earl's Tin Palace, Second Cups on Jasper/112 and Jasper/103, Axis Cafe, Fluid and Kelly's.

I like the Original Joe's patio on 102 Ave and 125 (?) Street for lots of sunshine, tasty beers, good atmosphere. Oh and did I mention the burgers?

A friend was raving today about the new Chili's rooftop patio on Whyte.

my own - to which i will soon be departing with a meal courtesy of save-on-foods at canterra and a corona from the fridge.
it shares an "open" fence with a bike path that let's us share the garden - and the gardening - with our neighbors and visitors to our neighborhood. i can see the mac's patio if i look west, the ski hill if i look south and nothing but the river bank to the east. a little slice of heaven to share with anyone that drops by...

Has anything moved into the "old" Sidetrack location on 104 st? 104 needs more patios to be a near perfect street.

No one's wrong because it's personal taste and not an official award or something. I personally like how busy 101 and Jasper is and feel it's one of the most urban patios in the city when it's up and running. Will be lots of people and vehicle watching.

Certainly it is a good addition, but far from a good patio.

What do you consider the best Downtown one then? Can't really think of an amazing one.

Actually Parlour's is pretty good now that you mention it. Never really liked Sherlock's for some reason - maybe all the parked cars or something.

Your office's roof top is it just for special occasions for you guys, or is it an actual permanent venue for the general public to go ad lib?

The Quarters has only one patio (I think) and it's Massawa - it's actually decent.
