    Some developers have very deep pockets and aren't shy about proceeding with large projects, knowing that by the time that they're finished the economy is likely to be in much better shape. Regency has been one of them over the past 5 years. Don't forget that the Pearl started I believe in early 2010, when the economy still wasn't in great shape. Every indication I have is that Regency will likely be starting a couple of their smaller/medium sized projects at some point this year, and the Jasper Ave project early next.

    Anyone know what's happening with the empty lot on the SW corner of 111 ave and 107 street? Passed by a week or two ago and noticed construction fencing and equipment on site. At first I thought it might be Kingway Crossing getting started, but that lot is just west of this one.

    I think it is a decent project considering that it will improve the visual of the area. maybe not as glamorous as a lot of the other projects out there but still work including I think.
    LRT is our future, time to push forward.

    I see the big red blob of the Sentinel storage behemoth is up opposite the bus barns at the southern end of Rabbit Hill Rd. Hope there's going to be some redeeming aesthetic about it once completed.

    ^ Speaking of bus barns, Ive got mixed feelings about the proposed bus barn South of the Beverly lrt station. Its a massive piece of property and a nice open space. Whenever the bus barn begins construction its going to be fun watching it being constructed but at the same time I'm going to miss that nice open space.

    Some fencing has now gone up around the vacant lot on the north side of Ellerslie Rd. immediately west of Save-on Foods at 111 St. And Ellerslie Rd. More condos, perhaps?

    Anyone know if the condo's going up on the east side of 50th Street and about 127th Ave are rental or purchase, and does anyone know who the builder/developer is, what the complex is called etc. There are a fair amount of units in it by the looks of it. It also may have underground parking as there does not seem to be much room for surface parking.

    ^^ The wife and I were at Humptys a few weeks ago and we needed to catch the bus by 127th and 50th. We noticed the development. Construction looks like all prefab press board from what we saw. Not impressed.

    Yeah guys, that's the one. Just north of Franco's. Just wanted to know if they were rentals or sales and also wondering about the parking. Apparently underground. Someone I know from out of town was asking me about them but gave me the wrong spelling of the company so could not find anything on it.

    No. The Bellamy Hill Tower is a Dub project. It's the lot immediately south of Edmonton House. There were renderings posted here on C2E and SS.

    So I saw a few maps like these for other cities, and decided to make one during my lunch break. Ended up being a lot more depressing than I had realized. I knew Edmonton had a long way to go, but I don't think I'd ever grasped just how far. Anyway, obviously not all encompassing, missing a lot of proposed buildings and probably some parking lots but oh well, you get the picture.

    I think including parkades which are building structures should not be in red. The parkades at City Centre West are large and developed and not going anywhere. Also lots that are not zoned for parking should be excluded and just listed as undeveloped. The inclusion of parkades does not portray reality and differentiating between parking lots zoned for that use versus empty lots is more to the point....from a development perspective.

    Haha this was just a quick sketch up I did over a couple lunch breaks. Not the most in depth drawing and certainly not 100% accurate. If you or anyone else want to create an updated or more in depth version feel free!

    Hopefully this is the right thread for this! I lead a unit in Alberta Economic Development and Trade that created and maintains the Alberta Major Projects Map. We are recruiting for a Construction Data Analyst position -- this person leads both the data administration and ongoing innovation of the Alberta Major Projects Map.     A huge part of this role is finding and entering information on construction projects. Basically, any private or public sector project over $5 million in value is fair game. We use a multitude of sources to find information on new and existing projects -- news reports, building permit reports, industry journals, etc. This product has roots all the way back to the late 1970s, as Alberta's substantial construction activity has long been one of our major economic strengths.

    Daveography on Skyrisecities is doing an excellent job of creating Edmonton's possible future skyline. The skyline would look fantastic if everything gets built!
