Peter Goldring as #yeg mayor would be interesting at least - we'd have our very own Rob Ford! #gongshow

Didn't like it when Percy Wickman did his song and dance to try to avoid a drunk driving charge and don't care for Goldring trying to pull his own stunt. He should man up, face whatever penalty and move on. No point in him running for any type of office until he faces the music.

Goldring has been welcomed back into the Tory fold, he is keeping his options open.

Good, keep him on the Fed backbench where he'll do least harm

Who are these people who keep voting for Goldring? I understand there are folks who vote for the party, but can't the Conservatives find a better candidate to run under their banner?

Peter Goldring as Mayor? Scary thought.

Oh god. I wish people actually knew the MPs they are voting for. He should have been gone out of politics long ago.

    Yeah.

    ****** great.

Since reading this the only thing rattling through Top_Dawg's empty head are the song lyrics from John Sebastian's ' Welcome Back '.

Jus' what he needs before the weekend.

    Thanks.

Globe and Mail article about his musing on a run for the Mayor's chair: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle12414467/

Best case scenario is that he steals enough votes away from Diotte so that they both don't end up winning.

I hope he runs. He'd get slaughtered and split the Diotte vote.

The guy is an arrogant SOB. Too bad he was found not guilty but not unexpected. Money talks.

I can't stand Goldring and I think he's completely useless, but I voted for him in the last few federal elections, only because I wanted to see a Conservative government on Ottawa.

I mean, how else was I supposed to vote?

The same Tony Caterina that just went on record defending a 5% tax increase because the city needs to catch up for the lack of investment in the 80's and 90's, and the city needs to continue to invest and buld to be a great city ? Yeah, sounds like a real jerk.

I've never voted for Tony either, and probably won't in this election either. but I have worked with him a lot on various issues, and he's hardly the ogre that most on this site make him out to be. Comments like yours just make you look like an uniformed *****.

I didn't like Tony for his position on the city center airport, but his stance on other issues has made me realize he's not the monster I used to think he was.

(That said, I doubt I would vote for him if he was in my ward)

Meooow! Was this a shot at me?

My dislike of Caterina has to do with his position on a variety of civic issues as well as my interaction with him in person. Standoffish and couldnt be bothered.

Last time I voted Van Alstein. Waiting to see all my options this year. Vote still wont go to TonCat.

IMO, Diotte and Goldring are alike and represent a similar kind of conservatism. Catarina another. He's a social conservative. Depends on the issue.

Please do, Mr Goldring. That way you can split votes with KD!

@ 240glt- I agree with you on TC. May not agree with him on most issues, but the man has guts and principles- so he has my grudging respect!
