Default City Installs More Bike Parking Near Whyte Ave & 124 St.

"The City of Edmonton is installing more bike corrals, expanding on a pilot project that saw two parking spaces given over to bicycle parking near Whyte Avenue last year.

This year, five of the structures will be available near Whyte Avenue and 124th Street, giving space for up to 16 bikes at each facility.

Thatís a first for 124th Street, which will get a bike corral on 108th Avenue about two metres off the popular shopping strip near Cafe Tiramisu. The facility will be across the street from the Thursday evening farmerís market, which typically draws 35 to 60 cyclists a night, said Kirsta Franke, spokeswoman for the 124 Street Business Association."

Great to see. Hopefully even more private businesses get on board with dedicated bicycle parking. It's frustrating when you can't find a secure place to lock your bike.

I love these, such a great way to encourage more people to bike.
