Thread: The Public House

    Default The Public House

Anybody know what's up with The Public House?

Their website reads "Thank you for all of your patronage. The Public House has closed our doors temporarily to make room for an exciting new concept coming early 2014!" There's also a sign up in their downtown location that gives the same message but in a somewhat more tantilizing way (something like "a concept Edmonton has never seen before!").

Retooling, thankfully... it was quite remarkable.

Do you know anything about the "concept never seen before in Edmonton" or whatever the wording was?

Probably something emulating a Vegas club concept. I have never credited any local nightclub owners with originality and creativity.

    I agree with Sonic Monkey.
Will believe it when I see it.
Have seen many clubs proclaim they will be opening something never before seen in Edmonton, and in the end it's just another teeny bopper dance club.

I doubt it will be a club. Likely a new pub with a twist, like Central did.

Cannot recall, but there was a proposal a few years ago about putting a multi-level parkade and residences or office above it if I recall.

If that means the current Knoxvilles will get demolished and something nicer gets built there, I can dig that.

Top_Dawg hasn't looked lately but that alley always made Top_Dawg giggle.

All the '70s and '80s cars abandoned by the beatniks behind the El Mirador.

    Looked like Havana.

Public House reopening under new ownership
    http://metronews.ca/news/edmonton/10...dmonton-crowd/
Edmonton business owners are breathing new life into a downtown restaurant that has been left vacant for several months.

The Public House, which sits at the corner of Jasper Avenue and 108 Street, will open once again but under new ownership.

“Our plan is to re-open up as The Public House for now and then in a year we will do a massive overhaul,” said Sam Moukhaiber, owner of the RoseBowl Hospitality Group.

As the owner of Rouge Lounge and operating businesses in the city for 36 years, Moukhaiber and his group plan to do a “lipstick makeover” to the currently vacant downtown building by lightening the interior, but also by bringing new food and cocktails to the location.

Gourmet style pizza, lunchtime buffets with gourmet dishes and cooking outside on one of the largest patios in the city are all part of Moukhaiber’s plan to bring the downtown work crowd, as well as the nighttime foodies, the great food they deserve.

“I’m a foodie and I have great food,” he said.

The Public House will re-open under new ownership tentatively on June 14.

Food at Public House was terrible. I don't know if that's what killed it, but it's likely a significant part of the reason.

^ They had some total babes in slinky black dresses handing out discount cards at the Cariwest parade, but that's all I know.

I was there for a patio party on Saturday...

The patio is awesome. Once they have it all set up, it will be a great spot

Inside...right now looks more or less like public house. Still has the library theme going on

Didn't get a chance to try any of the food.
