    Save On Foods will be open to the public tomorrow (Friday, Oct 7) from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

    Inside of their flyers is an insert that says "join us Saturday, October 8 for our Save On Foods 50th Street Market grand opening" but staff and papers at the doors says they will be opened on Friday.

    Based on the PDF from sonicboom's post #74 and application from post #90, I was assuming that Starbucks would be going into CRU #6 as the "National Coffee (Pending)". However, at the bottom of the Save On insert it mentions "Also available in our store: Starbucks on the go". I'm not a Starbucks consumer but does anyone know if this is what they're referring to?:

    I think Starbucks on the go probably means you can buy brewed coffee there but there is nowhere to sit and drink it. You probably can buy packets of their coffee also.

    Thanks for the reminder about No Frills:

    • Temporary street signs up indicating when and where job fair will be (if anyone was wondering, part time jobs available according to the sign)
    • Scaffolding up around the permanent No Frills sign - I'm assuming they'll be completing it sometime soon

    Save On Foods now open, official grand opening is Saturday:


    • Starbucks On The Go is as stated in my post #105 - located next to the Kitchen
    • There are a number of tables by the Kitchen and a TV on the wall
    • They sell Jones soda as a fountain drink by the Kitchen - 591 ml for $1.99, if I recall correctly
    • There are a number of samples given throughout the store
    • Plenty of staff to assist
    • Shelves are full and product variety is pretty good
    • No grand opening draws/giveaways today, perhaps tomorrow?
    • Only promo I saw was "Register your profile & fill your prescription at our pharmacy and receive one free $10 Save-On-Foods gift card, new customers only"

    Edmonton site of future, multi-million retirement community

    Development will create 200 short-term jobs, developer says.

    Northeast Edmonton is set to receive a $44 million retirement community in 2018.

    Revera, which runs several seniors care facilities in North American, announced it will develop a 160-suite retirement community called McConachie Gardens on a 3.3 acre site in McConachie.

    The construction phase will generate 200 short-term jobs and, once open, the community will employ over 100 people in a combination of full-time, part-time and temporary jobs.

    "We believe seniors want choice, freedom and flexibility to keep living their lives their way, and that's what retirement communities like McConachie Gardens offer," Stephen Foster, COO of the company, said in a statement, on Tuesday.

    “We are committed to supporting Alberta's seniors by recognizing their needs, doing our part to address them and providing an exceptional living experience."

    Just under 30 suites will be designated for memory care, where seniors can expect a safe and secure environment, recreation activities, and exercises that stimulate their memory.

    Revera currently owns and operates Riverbend and The Churchill retirement communities in Edmonton.
