    Welcome to EPCOR RiverFest!
EPCOR RiverFest features three signature rendezvous events. The Upstream Rendezvous will be hosted in Voyageur Park in Devon on Friday evening. The Central Rendezvous will be held in Whitemud Park & Whitemud Equine Center in Edmonton on Saturday the 16th. The Downstream Rendezvous will take place at West Riverís Edge Park in Fort Saskatchewan on the afternoon of Sunday the 17th. Each rendezvous will have unique activities, including boat rides and paddling on the river, food concessions, activities and booth displays from a range of outdoor operators and agencies.

Join us for EPCOR RiverFest in any one of the thousand ways we celebrate our River Valley.

Come visit this site again on June 10, when the full program of activities will be available. Until then, follow us at #EPCORRiverFest and @RiverValleyPark and use these to spread the word.

Yep! The idea of hundreds of inflatable rafts and boats being launched on the river at once has the potential to be make for a really cool atmosphere. Let us hope the weather cooperates.

Like people used to do for decades with K-Days?

Are you referring to the Sourdough Raft Race or something else? That is coincidentally happening this weekend at Terwillegar Park. Kind of different in scope of the event.

This one seems to be more participatory and open to everybody. Much better in that regard. This would seem to be a very positive initiative.

A few questions since I couldn't find the info available on the site.

Are the EPCOR rafts free to use in this event? what is the capacity, are smaller rafts available for those that want to couple float? Or families?

Can people bring their own rafts and have those towed back to departure site at a cost?

I did look through, I was just not finding the information.

We have our own inflatable, own life jackets, oars etc. What limits access for is being a one car one driver family and so that we cannot station vehicles at pick up and departure locations. Simply providing that would provide access for so many people.

"Ever think about paddling or floating the North Saskatchewan River? Well you can on one of 400 rafts at EPCOR RiverFest. September is the perfect time to take to the river. The water is clear and shallow and Fall colours are beautiful.

Are you interested in rafting the North Saskatchewan River with us? For a small fee, we’ll supply the raft, paddles and life jackets. Sign up here and you’ll be the first to know when registration opens"

Yes. But reading the replies I see it's a broader sort of event. Yay!

For the last 2 years, about, I have run the North cam of the Walterdale Bridge Live Stream pretty constantly, partly because I have a nerdly interest in the construction and also because of the river view. I was initially quite surprised when people started showing up on the river after the ice finally* cleared. Power boats, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. The only craft I haven't I haven't seen are pedal-powered. Despite what you may think if you just drive over it or walk along it the river gets good use. People are on it as early as 8 (I'm not watching much earlier) and until dark.

One thing the organizers need to consider and communicate is the river flow. I use Real-Time Hydrometric Data Graph for NORTH SASKATCHEWAN RIVER AT EDMONTON (05DF001) [AB] which measures from just upstream of the bridge. Right now there's quite a bit of "beach" making the north jetty not actually a jetty anymore.

    * The river "burps" ice at various times during the spring. First little pieces, and then larger and larger until pieces that look like they could fit a 60s bungalow and then smaller and smaller until little pieces again.

As I wrote this I saw a power boat go upstream and the downstream a couple times (damn you "Servier is busy"!!). Usually there'd be canoes but I'm thinking the air conditions aren't good for it today. Oh, and another smaller powered boat going downstream just before I try hitting "Submit" again..

It doesn't provide what I asked. What the cost is, whether you can BYOB, etc and have that portaged for fee etc. That would be the most common question out there for the many people that like rafting the river but find it hard to arrange a pickup vehicle.

Lots of good questions, as it's the first year the festival is taking place there are lots of details be sorted out (and added to the website).

From my understanding, yes you will be able to BYOB. The intent is to showcase to people how people can use the river if they haven't before. If people have their own boat, great. I also believe there is going to be a small deposit for using the rafts that are provided. I expect more details to be announced soon.
