Default The Globe & Fail strikes again

If you're wondering why Edmontonians keep feeling the need to enforce they are the capital city of Alberta (Alberta Capital Region, Capital Power, Edmonton Capitals, etc), it's because of people such as the editors of the Globe & Fail:

    Very bad editing.

Title is a win SDM. heh, kudos, and also for the good find.

Its just incredible that something like that would be written in the Nations top circulation paper.

But its more than bad editing. How could anybody being a journalist have such a poor grasp of information and knowledge. Its quite incredible. Its not a misprint either, or a mistake, its with intent describing Calgary as Alberta's Capital City. No print error, this is what the writer thought.

I would fire that writer summarily for incompetence.

Well, it's by the guy who runs the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, who I assume is not one of the Globe's regular columnists. Not sure if he, or the paper, would have written the headline.

But in any case, the Globe's editor should have caught the mistake, no matter who made it.

What I'd like to see is no more Blame the Victim on these PR blunders.

What do you mean by "Blame the Victim"?

It was an OpEd and Scott certainly knows where our capital is for he went to the UofA with me (Econ) and lived here for many years.

This was a G&M issue, not the writer's.

Is anyone following up with them?

The city needs to get on this and demand a public apology and retraction from the Globe and Mail.

If indeed the writer didn't make this error and the finalized print edition did it would seemingly be a case of the Globe and Mail, through their editing staff of PURPOSELY printing this error in which case clamor around it does essentially the service that the Troll Globe and Mail wanted it to do.

I'm not sure that follow up is the answer. Cancelling any subscriptions to, and stopping quoting it, and ultimately stopping discussion of it, is.
