The Moscow Missile Mystery: Is Russia Actually Violating the INF Treaty?
    January 31, 2014

“If the charge regarding the ground-launched cruise missile is true, it will have implications for U.S.-Russia arms control, bringing into question Moscow’s good faith in meeting treaty obligations. Capitol Hill critics wasted little time in using the New York Times story to challenge the administration’s entire approach to arms control, even with regard to the Iran nuclear deal and arrangements to destroy Syria’s chemical weapons. While there may be a serious compliance issue regarding the INF Treaty, the sides appear to be smoothly implementing New START. The Russians already meet two of the treaty’s three limits on strategic forces — even though those limits do not kick in until February 2018.

An INF Treaty violation would add yet another problem to a broader U.S.-Russia agenda ...”

'You Listen to Us Now': Putin Reveals Nuclear Weapons He Claims NATO Cannot Intercept | Breitbart

Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that NATO cannot intercept a new range of Russian nuclear weapons in a speech Thursday, displaying computer-generated images of the weapons.
In a state of the nation address on Thursday, the Russian strongman boasted of a new array of weapons including a nuclear-powered cruise missile, a nuclear-powered underwater drone, and a new hypersonic missile that he claims are unparalleled in strength and would render any NATO missile defense system “useless.”

“I want to tell all those who have fueled the arms race over the last 15 years, sought to win unilateral advantages over Russia, introduced unlawful sanctions aimed to contain our country’s development: all that you wanted to impede with your policies have already happened,” Putin declared. “You have failed to contain Russia.”

Putin’s speech was accompanied by a series of computer-generated images showing the strength of his underwater drone, which he says operates at a speed ten times faster than a typical vessel, making it near impossible to intercept.

“No one in the world has anything like that,” he said. ...”

    Ahhh:

Putin’s ‘Invincible’ Missile Is Aimed at U.S. Vulnerabilities

“We would consider any use of nuclear weapons against Russia or its allies to be a nuclear attack on our country,” he said.

This must be very upsetting to Trump. Why is his boss picking on him? Is Putin going to call him up and say, "Donald, you're fired!"?

TASS: Russian Politics & Diplomacy - Russian ambassador calls US accusations of INF treaty violation 'ungrounded'

Moscow considers accusations of violation of the treaty to be ungrounded, the diplomat said. "Those accusations have neither technical data of the launch platform, which allegedly fails to comply with the agreement, nor any in-flight measurement data behind them," he said, adding that in its turn Moscow is "seriously concerned regarding fulfillment of the treaty’s terms by the United States."

"The anti-Russia propaganda campaign with reference to the INF Treaty increasingly suggests that Washington is heading for withdrawal from this agreement, same as a while back it quit the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty," Antonov said. "We have repeatedly called for a professional discussion of this issue with our American colleagues. We have repeatedly warned and are warning once again that a collapse of the INF Treaty would be a terrible blow to the arms control and nonproliferation regime," he added.

Putin must have done this in his spare time ... you know when he wasn't busy poisoning his enemies and jailing his political opponents. There is an election coming up soon in Russia, so he is probably trying to boost his support among those he hasn't been able to intimidate or silence yet.

This article has to be absolute nonsense. A bomb that is 3000 times more powerful has a blast ratio that is the inverse cube root of the blast thus the cube root of 3000 is about 7.5 thus making the blast area 7.5 times Nagasaki /Hiroshima blast radius of 1 mile. A blast with a 7.5 mile blast radius will not wipe out Britain. And the other utter nonsense about satellites not looking south - what crap.

You are correct. A 50 megaton hydrogen bomb was tested before by Russia. If it had the power to wipe Britain off the map, where could have Russia test it because you would need such a huge test range. The Tsar bomb was tested in 1961 and estimates put it in the 50 to 57 Mt range.

    “Absolute”

Interesting unscientific approach to reading. (aka knee jerk reaction)

    Think one missle, multiple warheads.

The terrifying new mega-nuke has the capability to travel 6,000miles and strike more than a dozen targets once it reaches its destination

    ...
They are rumoured to have a range of 6,000 miles, and carry up to 16 separate bombs capable of independently launching from the missile to strike multiple targets from a single launch.

It reportedly can carry 10 to 24 MRV's with a total throwas weight of 10,000kg with a total yield of 50Mt. Not a dozen warheads of 50Mt each. Several reporters got this wrong.

    From wiki.
Satan 2 Missile has 10–24 MIRVs (various type and yield; At the maximum reported throw-weight of up 10,000 kg, the missile could deliver a 50 Mt charge (the maximum theoretical yield-to-weight ratio is about 6 megatons of TNT per metric ton, and the maximum achieved ratio was apparently 5.2 megatons of TNT per metric ton in B/Mk-41).

Great Britain is 80823 square miles and if each 3000 times greater blast is used then you will need 915 of these bombs to eradicate Britain once let alone twice over. The article does not make sense.

Thanks PRT. I do believe that the missile can do a lot of damage but I guess I have a different image of totally destroy rather than tactically destroy which this missile could likely achieve.
