Default Amazon Fulfillment Centre - Nisku?

Has anyone else heard about this? Hearing second hand that land is already being cleared in Nisku for a 1M square foot Amazon fulfillment centre. Would be great news for our area if true.

Fulfilment center? Is this a new term for warehouse distribution?

Note to self, edTel is a reliable source.

Thanks for the compliment but I am usually the last in the know on these sorts of things. I just happened to run into someone working right beside where this is going up. I am really happy this rumor turned out to be true. Going to be a nice boost to the local economy.

I guess when EHL International Logistics Co. gets its hub up and running at the Airport it will be just a short drive to Amazon to deliver the goods!

Maybe Aurora and Amazon can also enter into a 'joint' venture!!

Ah, the synergies of having an airport that is open for business 24 hours a day.

Does anyone know exactly where it will be located in Nisku?

Huh, the one they just finished building in Balzac (Calgary) is only 600 000 sq ft.

Northern Alberta might have a larger catchment area in terms of population.

Agreed, but I think Andrew was trying to convey a message where the correlation of square footage to employee #'s are construed. Balzac - 600,000 sq/ft //1500 employees. Leduc - 1,000,000 sq/ft // 600 employees.

I read that the fulfillment center will specialize in larger items so maybe that's why?

Just south of the city limits (41 ave sw) on the Nisku Spine Road and 39th ave, Leduc County. Take 91 st and just keep going south. 91 st becomes Ewing Trail as it curves around the soccer dome then becomes NIsku Spine Road at city limits. Itís on the right about 500 meters past the lights. To my understanding.

The City of Edmonton the province and the feds contributed to the 41 avenue overpass the county of Leduc contributed nothing. Just saying.

Are you suggesting a toll is required for Nisku businesses and their workers? Iím sure everyone pays federal and provincial taxes.

Iím am suggesting no such thing I am simply pointing out I am tired of people from the surrounding communities boasting about low taxes and how they can attract business when they donít pay for infrastructure. By the way Edmontonians also pay federal and provincial taxes and municipal taxes that build infrastructure that surrounding communities benefit from but contribute a nothing.

So do Edmontonians... civics, provincial, and federal. This is where the formulas has to be re-evaluated to benefit everyone fairly. Why should I have to pay more and not you?

Meaning? My position is that all communities have to contribute now as the entire metro has merged- physically- into one. There is no longer borders amongst any of the communities surrounding Edmonton. It is only fair we cooperate. Let's get over this " I spent my business in Edmonton." Guess what, so do I, and I also spent my business in the surrounding communities; Where are my returns on that?
