Yes, we had the alert as well. I really dread these..how anyone can call 911, because it;s late or disturbing them..

This is the first time I had experienced an alert. The ringing went on multiple times for everyone with a smartphone was quite excessive don't you think, given that the abducting was done by the mother of the child. The claim that the child's life was in danger with no information to back up that claim is concerning.

Might as well have an emergency alert for a paper cut.

I only heard it on CKUA. My phone didn't make a peep. nor log a text.

Put the Alberta Emergency Alert app on your phone.

I don't think it is an app as I don't have it on my phone. This alert is meant for all smartphones in Alberta, we don't have a choice in the matter. I guess some phones are still not compatible.

I thought it was blasted to all phones that can text, over SMS. From what I've read of them, I don't feel left out.

The app will give you alerts beyond the amber alerts.

Not interested in having an app that will bug me more than anything else. All relevant information should be available within the amber alerts, no need for excess baggage.

^^Thanks for that link. They aren't SMS messages, but WPA cellular broadband messages. And my phone isn't supported.
