The Leon's "Ho Ho Ho" ads are back.

To some that might be annoying.

^ Those are midly irritating, but no one goes into a store and jumps around like a twit, shouting 'You're the best Dad '.
Now if you'll excuse me I have to go and buy a Flames jersey so I can get my shot.
Go ahead, speed pass me... I'll meet you at the next red light.

I really dislike one of the city's "Store It Don't Pour It" ads, namely the one with the dad getting berated by his know-it-all brat. Another example of where it's perfectly acceptable to portray the man of the house as an ignorant doofus.

    The new Disneyland/world commercials.

The music is loud and annoying and they play it during every commercial break.

What? Not enough Canadians are going to Disneyland these days?

Wahy too much of that. From commercials to sitcoms.

On the flip-side the Swiss Chalet commercial where pops and his daughter go to her fave place (Swiss Chalet) personally really resonates with me.

The girl's acting is awful and she looks weird.

The Subaru Outback ad that starts off by recycling a Snuggie ad. When I first saw it I rather liked it and thought it was going to be the start of a great ad campaign. I expected to see a different stupid commercial get torn off the screen every week or two. I was very disappointed when I realized that wasn't going to happen. Sorry Subaru, this one's getting old fast.

I just saw an ad for RCM Auto, featuring the worst Elvis impersonator EVER.
    It's even on their website:

Brocolli. it's an ad for the Canadian Brocolli Council or growers or such, just the way it's done reminds of the those stupid "stop cooking with cheese ads."

They keep trying to say that landing without a parachute is not a miracle but brocolli is, the other version is a multiple birth 100 or so years ago wasn't a miracle but brocolli is........yeeeech!

That ad is so old it's from the late 80's or early 90's cause she's wearing acid wash jeans.......I am sure she doesn't look like THAT anymore, and the old guy is probably deceased.........ho ho ho

They were runniing the exact same ads in the UK last winter as well the only difference was a .co.uk website address.

The typical brit family on holiday in Disneyworld bear no resemblence to a North American family at all.

Father Shaved head/ English/Scottish/Irish Flag tattoos (many) smoker, too much jewellry
Mother dyed blonde hair, permatan, bad skin, smoker, ditto on the jewellry
Children, loud, spoiled, generally obese dressed either in track pants (male) or something very age innappropriate (female).

Kelloggs should fire their advertisers. Their Mini-Wheats ads with the all-singing all-dancing animated mini-wheat have been horrible, but the latest one done to the tune of "ole ole ole" nearly prompted me to throw my TV set off the balcony.

    Default Cialis Jingles

Those Cialias ads that seem to run nonstop on the Business News Network with the middle aged women singing those idiotic jingles make me reach for the remote mute button. None of their other ads evoke a similar response from me so it's not the product that is causitive.

That stupid ad that runs on the US stations with the "Animated people made out of pipes" for some medication involving bladder control.

Or any drug ad on American TV for that matter The Cialis ads are hysterical with the tag line"When your ready" it goes all romantic and the couple end-up in matching bathtubs on the beach. Very Very Realistic.....

What happens "When your ready" standing inline at Safeway or the bank? That would make a far more believable ad!!!!!! LOL

And in most cases the side-effects sound worse than the actual condition.

I'm getting really sick of that Telus PVR ad with "Woody Allen" telling his customer to lift with her legs when she's tossing the chair down the stairs.

I hate those propaganda ads... Showing all the beautiful shots of coming in to citycentre while she drones on about falsehoods........ but then I am biased I worked on the referendum in the 90's to close that thing....

My nieghbour has a sign up on his house about "don't seell the airport" and sits in his garage with the petition to sign. I would hardly say that the stay at home moms and kids in the playground next to him are the "petition" types.

He asked me to sign and i had to politely say I am firmly in the enemy camp I want the airport closed.

Stride gum commercials, especially the one with the men riding ostriches and attacking the man. I don`t know who is more scarier the ostrich or the man on the ostrich. Also I hate Capital Ex commericals.

It's that time of the year again when I extend a hearty F.U. to Staples and Zellers for starting their "Back of School" advertising this past weekend, a month before school starts. C'mon, quit depressing us (especially the kids) over the fact that the end of summer is coming up. In fact, summer isn't even over yet. The least Staples can do is change their "wonderful time of the year" thing, it's getting old.

You'll see Christmas merch in Zeller's WalMart and Costco in September.

I love Chrismas, but it should be a season tat starts December 1. No store should be selling Christmas merch until after we've honoured our veterans. I've always felt that doing otherwise is disrespectful.

i guess there will always be someone than can out-dumb our nefarious chain marts:
    Example:
    this store in the UK

I wonder if our resident Edmonton basher from the UK can chime in on this idiocy coming from the 'old country'

Those Dairy Queen 25th aniversary Blizzard commercials with the loser family chasing the DQ truck around in that beat up old Toyota Tercel station wagon.

So if you want a Blizzard, DQ basically is stating your a "loser" Going by the family they use to portray as a DQ customers.

Also those new Renee salad dressing ads with the same guy who is the caterer in the AW ads about the mini sirloin burgers.......As someone mentioned before bring back the managers sidekick they had a goofy charm.

Every commercial makes me reach for the mute button but I don't watch TV through traditional means anymore. DVDs and internet streaming with no commercials in the future. If you watch TV on a regular basis, try it and you'll see how the saved hours add up.

Ok, I am a supporter of all things Canadian.....but our commercials are soooooooooooooo boring.

All you have to do is watch the Superbowl or any American network that is simutaneously shown on a Canadian broadcaster (so they replace it with local ads). I'd rather watch the creative American ones, then the same Ford/Tim Horton's/Scotia Bank commercials......over and over and over.

sorry - I know this is not a 'TV' commercial .. but I have to say it:

The Seven-Eleven 'Slurpee Frozen Moment' spots on Hot 107 .... honnestly makes me want to scratch my face off!

I will boycott seven-eleven for LIFE now ... who decided this was a good* idea?

I hate the Stride Gum commercials--had a break from them for a few weeks but they are back.
I went online and found a website for Stride and sent them an email telling them what I thought of their ads. The first response I got back was explaining something about food allergies so I wrote back and attached the original email. They did respond again and said that they would pass my comments onto their marketing department.

This one doesn't make me reach for the mute button. However with the news story about the "Take This Job & Shove It " flight attendant, this brings a smile to my face. Enjoy....

That's a good idea. I've thought about writing Kelloggs and telling them that, although I love Mini-Wheats, I am refusing to buy them until the horrible singing Mini-Wheat is off the air.

I just posted the following message:

    To whom it may concern:

As much as I love Mini-Wheats, I am refusing to purchase them until the TV ads featuring the singing Mini-Wheat is off the air. Not only is the singing Mini-Wheat highly annoying but the appropriation of the soccer "ole ole ole" chant is beyond intolerable. I can either complain about bad advertising, or I can send a message by voting with my wallet - I choose to do the latter.

Please reconsider your advertising campaign. Thank you.

Mr Suave and Mr Loser have a new ad out S is getting his complimentary replacement phone while L is sitting in the mall with no phone and pockets full of quarters...

Also those Back to school ads from Joe Fresh at Superstore. I actually had a look at that stuff in real life it looks nothing like the stuff on TV (suprise!) But it's the ad with all the little kids decked out like 25 year old hipsters. WHO ARE THEY KIDDING! no parent that I know if is going to trick out their kids like that. No matter how cheap the stuff is.

I really don't like those ads for online poker that carry the caption "this is not a gambling site" where you can learn the game of poker. Maybe they're not gambling sites per se, but they're sure looking to coach people into the habit. Yeah, it's all about personal responsibility, but you just know that there'll always be some that will get sucked in in a big way and form an addiction in the process. Falls into the same category as booze ads, I suppose.

Who's the insane-looking blonde chick doing the Jenny Craig ads these days? Never caught her name, but someone told me she used to be on MAD TV.

Thank You! I've been trying to figure out where I have seen her and I think your right that she is from MAD TV.

Any and all of the excretable "Brand Power" ads. the latest one is flogging ball point pens for crying out loud with a new "delivery system" to "enhance" your writing experience.

The scary part is they are Canadian ads and I have seen versions in both the UK and South Africa. though their "spokesmodels " are far more "capitvating" than the woman on our ads. This from a gay guy!

Setting aside arguments about personal responsibility and addiction, these ads are how the sites get around laws banning advertising for gambling; they are advertising a free, for-fun service. Their parent company just also happens to operate a real money site as well, which just happens to be easily linked to from the "fun" site.

Similar to how Northlands advertises for visiting the Northlands Spectrum to "see" the horses. You also just happen to be able to place bets on them while you're there, as well as gamble in the attached casino, but that's not what they're advertising of course.

Sounds like those glossy drug ads that don't really tell you what the drugs actually do, like Viagra (which is obvious) and Celebrex.

If you have ever watched the US primetime news on ABC CBS NBC they are loaded with all of those anti despression ads what is really funny about them is they all seem to be filmed in Vancouver. subliminal messaging perhaps.

This ad would depress the hell out of anybody. I vaguely remember her doing english versions.

Nicole Sullivan. I do like Sara Rue tho'. She is hot. I thought she was attractive 'before', and I didn't mind her sitcom, but good on her for what she's accomplished. Not a big fan of weight loss programs but whatever floats your boat.

Funny enough I prefer these guys over the blonde chick. Her latest one is horrible...she assumes she can use her boyfriend's phone by telling her friends to call his number...and then has the gall to say he's not important. If I was that guy, I'd take the phone back and boot her to the curb right away.

BTW, the actor who plays the loser is/was on some KITH-type show on the comedy channel.

Continiuing the Mobile phone ad bashing. LOL that new ChatR brand with the "don't worry talk happy" music. I hate the song and know that they use for thier ads it makes it worse. It's one of those pieces of music that worms it's way into your head and will not leave.

The new McDonalds Quarter pounder Ad with the sucession of guys describing the burger ending with "Zeus" and his pectoral dance. It seems to me they are going after the "gay demographic"

The funny thing is I have seen them run the exact same ad in the UK with the exact same couple but dub "American" voices go figure!
I guess they think North Americans will feel continental eating Cheerios while Brits will like it as it's an American brand.

Agreed, Went to the movies over the weekend and they play it before the show. I still don't get the excited little "foot dance" he does before he hits enter......Logging on isn't THAT exciting!!!!

And it DOES sound like Pink Floyd doesn't it. Probably a much cheaper coverband sound alike.

Well at least that bickering Brit couple don't sing with their Cheerios....It's the guy with the Post Almond Crisp Cereal that makes me cringe tryng to convince everyone that they won't like it.

BTW not TV ads those "Prolixsus" Ads on the radio.........her voice is like nails down a chalkboard. Also has anybody else had a mild heart attack when the new "emergency broadcast tests" cut off all the radio stations in your car while your driving? The Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cakes ads with the father getting towed, mugged, attacked by dogs, arrested etc has been on so long his "daughter" must be old enough to drive by now.

Also very bored of the Corona Beer ads with the couple sitting on the beach especially the one where she checks out the "stud" walking past and he "shakes" her bottle of Corona. They should rework it so he checks out the guy and lets see her reaction LOL.

I really don't llike that Toyota ad. where the guy is waaaay out in the bush and comes across a bunch of yahoo/outdoorsy/macho (take your pick) guys who've all turned up in their Toyota trucks. You'd think with all the emphasis these days on keeping wilderness wilderness, these sort of ads would be taboo. But hey, they're selling to the Alberta market. Not that many buyers will go off road anyway.
