I loved her music, and she was so down to earth, thanks mostly to her father..

What a battle she had, may she now RIP, and her music live on.

I thought Leitch would have been older, by about a decade. I guess he was one of those guys who always seemed to be a few years older than he actually was. Also, his show had that kind of unironic tackiness I associate with Silent Generation tastes.

Too bad that Trump missed the Vietnam War due to a fake heel issue. I could see Trump storming in all alone, kicking down the front door of the Hanoi Hilton and carrying McCain to safety along with all the POW's and bringing them though 100 miles of jungle to the safety of the home base.

Yeah, Trump would have done it but he was too busy playing football on his bad foot...

Amazingly, this POS manages to be even worse than Trump when it comes to John McCain.

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kelli Ward accuses John McCain of dying to push ‘negative narrative’ about her

Ward is now running for Sen. Jeff Flake’s seat (R-AZ), and agreed that McCain was trying to have a “negative” effect on her by dying.

“I think they wanted to have a particular narrative that was negative to me,” Ward wrote in response to the conspiracy theory.

After Resnik pointed out Ward’s comment she deleted it and posted a statement accusing the “fake” news of pushing a narrative.

I admired McCain up to the point that he decided to pander to the crazy wing of the GOP by naming Sarah Palin as his VP. I may not have a greed with him but I could admire his convictions.

Back to Margot Kidder. I hadn’t realized that she committed suicide, until today. "Superman" actress Margot Kidder died from an intentional drug and alcohol overdose ... according to the Coroner's Office.

The Park County Coroner says Kidder's overdose was self-inflicted. TMZ broke the story ... Kidder, who played Lois Lane in the '70s and '80s "Superman" movies, was found May 13 in her Livingston, MT home. The Coroner has not specified what drugs she took.

Her daughter, Maggie McGuane, told the AP the family wanted to be "open and honest" about the suicide to avoid any "cloud of shame."

Margot had struggled for years, very publicly at times, with bipolar disorder. She was 69.

    Barack Obama on Facebook

John McCain and I were members of different generations, came from completely different backgrounds, and competed at the highest level of politics. But we shared, for all our differences, a fidelity to something higher – the ideals for which generations of Americans and immigrants alike have fought, marched, and sacrificed. We saw our political battles, even, as a privilege, something noble, an opportunity to serve as stewards of those high ideals at home, and to advance them around the world. We saw this country as a place where anything is possible – and citizenship as our patriotic obligation to ensure it forever remains that way.

Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did. But all of us can aspire to the courage to put the greater good above our own. At John’s best, he showed us what that means. And for that, we are all in his debt. Michelle and I send our most heartfelt condolences to Cindy and their family.

    Weird

Not knowing that he died, I was just talking to a friend half an hour ago in Kentucky about when he worked on the movie set of Deliverance, making a few props for the movie when he was a teenager back in 1971. He never met any of the actors.

In the 1970's there a real hunkering for downhome TV ever since The Beverly Hillbillies and Green Acres were canceled.

The Hollywood elite cut these shows and the vacuum created the Tea Party, Faux News and Trumpism... LOL

With all the lame movies and plots today kids don’t know what they are missing.

Anyone note how often just before an actor dies, their old shows show up on tv? (Coincidence or something else?)

    Rural Purge

After purging CBS of its hick shows and bringing in more urbane fare, Silverman then went to ABC and programmed it as the T & A network fondly recalled by anyone who was watching TV in the late 70s.

Dukes Of Hazzards, CBS late 1970s, was a bit of a throwback to pre-Purge CBS. And Barney Miller on ABC in the same era seemed as if it was trying to be like one of the more socially sophisticated sitcoms then prevalent on CBS.

Douglas Rain, voice of HAL, 90

Douglas Rain, Stratford Festival pioneer and voice of HAL, dead at 90

A pioneer of the Stratford Festival, Douglas Rain, died Sunday at the age of 90 in a hospital just outside the city in which he first established his longtime classical career.

Rain spent 32 seasons acting at Stratford and was one of the few surviving founding members of the company. But his biggest mark on pop culture surprisingly came through another role: as HAL 9000, the unmistakable voice from the sentient computer in Stanley Kubrick's film, 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I was at a cool Comic Con party years ago, and one of the PR girls I was with said "I just chatted with the nicest old man over there - I think he's someone's grandpa." I looked over and it was Stan Lee, just hanging out, without the GIANT bodyguards I saw him with earlier in the day. This was a pretty rockin' party, with lots of celebs, so it wasn't shocking that no one was surrounding him. I went over and chatted with him for a few minutes, and he was really nice. he lived a very long and rewarding life, and I consider myself lucky that I got to spend a few minutes with him.

The "Bakersfield Sound", brought country music into the mainstream before Nashville made it plastic pop with belt buckles. That's Bakersfield California, where the Oilers have their farm team.

Chest-thumping nationalist trivia, but Hee Haw was created by two guys who got their start at CBC. That's how they managed to rope in Don Harron to do his Charlie Farquarson character.

Stampede Wrestling superstar Tom (The Dynamite Kid) Billington dead at 60

The professional wrestling community is mourning the death of a revolutionary star credited with helping to revive Stampede Wrestling.

Tom (The Dynamite Kid) Billington died Wednesday on his 60th birthday.

    https://calgarysun.com/news/local-ne...ton-dead-at-60
I remember watching The Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith pairing up as the British Bulldogs in the golden era of WWE.

I really enjoyed The Dynamite Kid when he first came to Stampede Wrestling. He was small, fast and acrobatic. His aerial attacks from the top ropes were legendary. Reminded me of some of the Mexican style wrestlers. He was a pleasure to watch as he beat much larger opponents.

    RIP Tom
    A Tribute

Then he bulked up in the mid-eighties, joined the WWF and became more typical like other wrestlers. I bet steroids were involved.
