    Default c2e on Wikipedia

Well, a long time ago I'd put c2e in the Edmonton Wikipedia article and in the meantime it seems someone decided it wasn't worthy of mention on the main article. It's been moved to a media links page. I guess only commercial media is worthy of main article mention.

So, I've created a separate page for c2e. Here's the link:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connect2edmonton

I hope people will visit it, click "edit this page" or "edit" and go to town enhance this Wikipedia article.

Interesting, click on the link above.

I guess c2e is just not considered 'media' or something.

    Can c2e meet this criterion?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_forums

"This is a list of notable Internet forums, sorted by number of posts, both in English and in other languages. The list contains only forums for which an article exists, dedicated either wholly or at least partly to the forum."

Here's what was lost. c2e's lost Wikipedia page!

My pasted link doesn't seem to work, so Google connect2edmonton deletionpedia and you'll see a lot of content that could be restored if c2e's credibility could be established.

I still think c2e is worthy of note on Wikipedia at the very least under list of Internet forums.

Seems that it needs an article.

I had a long discussion with the Wikinerds listed.

There are plenty of more obscure, smaller, and less noteworthy items, forums, and topics that have wiki pages. Somehow, these 2 folks felt that C2E was not as worthy as even other fan clubs, hobbyist organizations, or web forums at that time.

Their version of "notability" stretched into worldwide notability - so hence if they haven't heard of you, or if there isn't enough room in their minds that you've affected the world, then go pound sand.

I also get that this forum would never get in Britannica's old hard cover encyclopedia, or at best would be a name in a list of other names, but if Britannica is their benchmark...well...they failed. Wikipedia was put out to prove the technology of the Wiki, as well as be a repository. It has noble and honorable intentions, but like most things on the internet, fails under its own weight. To be managed by a committee of anonymous internet folks with a myriad of intentions, agendas, and political/religious goals is next to impossible. It does very well, but still if you try to cite Wikipedia in a professional or academic paper, you are soundly derided simply because the site, at a point in time, cannot be truly verifiable (i.e. you can go in, edit to your likes, quote the site, take screen shots, and then submit. I've actually seen this done.)

I have never even bothered to re-create the page since 2008. I get their desire to not have the page become one for advertising as we have a similar view here, but that is why I structured the entry to not be an ad and actually noted what dialogues the forum had impacted and the social change it created in the city.

Not good enough, but a fan club for cars made the grade...

In 2014, I feel no desire to try again.

I see absolutely no point in pursuing Wikipedias or the like.

Only the truly insignificant feel they are somehow validated by being noticed. Let's rise above all that.
